We wanted to touch base with you regarding the Bearden School Board’s COVID 19 guidance for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. In its monthly meeting March 18, 2021, the Bearden School Board voted to continue to keep our current COVID-19 precautions in place for the remainder of the current school year. This would include: temperature checks before school for students / employees at school or getting on the school buses, wearing masks at school, social distancing as much as conditions allow, limiting our contact with large groups as much as possible, continue to follow CDC quarantine guidelines, etc.
Our goal is to finish the year with as little as possible positive COVID 19 cases. We realize the Governor Hutchinsom is discussing lifting many COVID 19 restrictions at the end of the March. However, the Department of Education is continuing to put out emails and memos that highly suggest school districts keep their restrictions in place to continue to fight the spread of COVID 19. I would agree with our SB decision entirely on keeping our restrictions / precautions in place the remainder of the school year. We will re-visit this decision in June for decisions for the 2021-22 school year, or possible July summer school sessions. The Camden Fairview School District has also decided to keep their restrictions/precautions in place for the remainder of the school year for similar reasons
